Gargoyle Reunion the weekend of the Michigan-Nebraska game!
We now have an official "stamp" by Adrian Choy, so you know it's getting serious...
The 2011 reunion will be Friday, November 18 from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM in the Koessler room at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor and you are invited!
We will be having dinner, wine, and the traditional fortune cookie and
champagne toast to the founders.
Price is $50 per person before September 15, $60 afterwards. Please
send your number of attendees, choice(s) of chicken or vegetarian
entrée, and payment either via Paypal (jfwambaugh@gmail.com) or mail:
813 Bluestone Rd., Durham, NC 27713.
Dinner menu consists of either sauted boneless chicken breast with
rustic artichoke, zucchini, mushroom and herb marinara sauce or fresh
seasonal vegetables skewered on a rosemary sprig and served on a bed of
quinoa with chive oil. Sides will be roasted vegetables and garlic and
shallot mashed potatoes. Wine, soft drinks, coffee, appetizers, and
sundae bar, and gratuity are also included.
The new date has been added on our Events page. You can always check there for the latest information about upcoming reunions. The increasingly humorously named Big Ten will soon have twelve teams when it welcomes Nebraska from the Big Twelve (which will then have ten teams). The 2011 reunion had been planned for November 4, with a cold, November game against Illinois the following day. Unfortunately, that game has been changed to a road game to accommodate the addition of Nebraska to the schedule. On the plus side, there was suddenly an opportunity for GargAlums to attend the first Big Ten Michigan-Nebraska game.
The reunion will now be held at the Michigan League, Koessler Room, Friday, November 18, 2011, with the Nebraska game the next day. In the future we will try to slide the reunion earlier in the semester, but with the rescheduling happening one year out we could not get the League any earlier.
I can only imagine that Nebraska will not be quite as good on the field, but somehow still get a tie when their coach suddenly announces his retirement.
