Forty-one of us gathered in Ann Arbor for the 2011 reunion.  We had 27 alumni and 14 current staff members for dinner and socializing.  They literally had to ask us to leave at the end of the evening...

On Saturday the usual gang put together a typical atypical Saturday Night Special: Sat_Nite_Special2011.pdf

Gargoyle Reunion the weekend of the Michigan-Nebraska game!

We now have an official "stamp" by Adrian Choy, so you know it's getting serious...

The 2011 reunion will be Friday, November 18 from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM in the Koessler room at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor and you are invited!

We will be having dinner, wine, and the traditional fortune cookie and champagne toast to the founders.

Price is $50 per person before September 15, $60 afterwards. Please send your number of attendees, choice(s) of chicken or vegetarian entrée, and payment either via Paypal (jfwambaugh@gmail.com) or mail: 813 Bluestone Rd., Durham, NC 27713.

Dinner menu consists of either sauted boneless chicken breast with rustic artichoke, zucchini, mushroom and herb marinara sauce or fresh seasonal vegetables skewered on a rosemary sprig and served on a bed of quinoa with chive oil. Sides will be roasted vegetables and garlic and shallot mashed potatoes. Wine, soft drinks, coffee, appetizers, and sundae bar, and gratuity are also included.

2011 Reunion Date Change

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
GargAlum Grand Poobah John Wambaugh writes:

The increasingly humorously named Big Ten will soon have twelve teams when it welcomes Nebraska from the Big Twelve (which will then have ten teams).  The 2011 reunion had been planned for November 4, with a cold, November game against Illinois the following day.  Unfortunately, that game has been changed to a road game to accommodate the addition of Nebraska to the schedule.  On the plus side, there was suddenly an opportunity for GargAlums to attend the first Big Ten Michigan-Nebraska game.

The reunion will now be held at the Michigan League, Koessler Room, Friday, November 18, 2011, with the Nebraska game the next day.  In the future we will try to slide the reunion earlier in the semester, but with the rescheduling happening one year out we could not get the League any earlier.

I can only imagine that Nebraska will not be quite as good on the field, but somehow still get a tie when their coach suddenly announces his retirement.

The new date has been added on our Events page.  You can always check there for the latest information about upcoming reunions.

Garg's First 100th!

This weekend was the Gargoyle Centennial in Ann Arbor.  It was a right good time, and the alumni turnout was great.  Four very cool staffers from the Penn State Phroth (also 100 years old!) also showed up to the party.

It started with brunch at Cottage Inn on Friday and culminated in the traditional Saturday Night Special (as usual, completed on Saturday morning instead of night).  Along the way were visits to the Gargoyle exhibits in the Bentley Historical Library and the Grad Library in Ann Arbor, the traditional banquet, and an art auction.

The current Gargoyle staff has posted the 2009 GargAlum Saturday Night Special over on their website.  Go check it out if you didn't manage to grab a copy while you were in A2!  We'll also post a copy of the PDF here in the next few days.

If anyone got photos at any of the events or panels, please send them to me at gargalum@gmail.com or comment with a link to them.  I'd love to post them here.

Garg's First 100th Registration

Remember how we mentioned in the May 2009 newsletter that you could register online?  Well, that's not exactly true.  According to John Dobbertin, GargAlum Grand Poobah, there's been some trouble with online registration, and it has now been removed from the Student Publications website.  In his words: "We're going with snail-mail & old-fashioned checks."

So if you'd like to register, please print and mail the form the June 2009 edition of the newsletter with your check.

And remember, the price for registration will be going up monthly as we approach the event.  The later you register, the more it will cost.  Register early!
